Cool Crap : In The Mood For Love Limited Edition Soundtrack

The limited edition CD soundtrack for Wong Kar Wai's wonderful In The Mood For Love. An LP sized package featuring a cd of the score and songs, a poster for the film and a number of LP sized postcards featuring imagery inspired by and from the film that are simply stunning.

I always personally thought "In the Mood for love" was over-rated. Not a bad movie by any means, but I would'nt place it as Wong's best film. I know, many people disagree with my view, but that's just my opinion.

Hi "A Hero Never Dies" --

I've got an "In the Mood for Love" OST too -- am not sure if it's a limited edition though, probably not! In any event, it's great to listen to.

Hi Anonymous --

Funny what you wrote... just saw this over on The Guardian's website:-

More seriously, it seems that "In the Mood for Love" is many a Western film critic's favorite Wong Kar Wai film. Me -- I prefer "Ashes of Time". :)

Anon, I think it's a great movie, beautiful to look at and listen to, with two superlative performances. It may technically be WKW's best movie but I'll always love Chungking Express and Ashes of Time more. What would your choice be?

Hi YTSL,

Yes, limited edition or not the cd is a great listen.

Which version of original Ashes or redux Ashes? I much prefer the original one, it's a shame it was tampered with rather than just spruced up. I do like the redux, it just has a different feel to the original.

Hi again "A Hero Never Dies" --

I love both original and redux "Ashes of Time"s as films -- but in terms of the music, it's got to be the original "Ashes of Time" for me. :)

Hi YTSL,

I prefer the more dense original for a few reasons but the main one is the score, I must have almost worn that cd out!

I prefer Ashes of Time more-but that might as something to do with my personal interest in Jin Yong's wuxia novels, even if Ashes depart significantly from the "Eagle Shooting Heroes", (which Ashes was supposedly based itself on.)

That's a pretty awesome package. Love the little postcards it comes with. Thanks for sharing the photos.
